We all have a different reality - Issue #30
Have you ever felt like you were a bit disconnected from the world or you feel like you lived in a different reality from the rest? You’re not alone.
As it turns out we all have our perception of reality.
That is heavily influenced by our upbringing and by our own experiences. Our reality perception can also be skewed. All of these can trigger you to see one situation or another from a positive or negative perspective.
Did you know that when you’re hungry you can act very different rather than when you just ate? Crazy I know. I know I can be kind of cranky when I’m hungry. Also when you already feel bad, you tend to see things or situations in a more negative light. The same when you didn’t have a good night sleep or don’t feel well physically.
Why does this matter?
Well, I’ve been talking to a friend recently who had some major changes in her life, most of them for the better. Because she wasn’t where she was picturing herself to be, she started seeing most of the things in her life from a negative perspective. More than that, she was starting to assess every aspect of her life in a very negative light.
I was there so many times. That doesn’t mean that sometimes we cannot feel stuck or lost. When you feel like you’re going on a negative spiral, you can assess whether the reality you’re painting is true. This thing helped me a lot during dark times get up and restart.
How to identify whether your reality reflects the actual situation
Identify when you start being cranky or feeling like nothing goes well or that you feel lost or stuck.
Think about it in depth. Is absolutely everything going sideways or it’s just your perception?
Paint a plan to get yourself back on the road. The last two newsletters are designed for you to make a plan and stick to it. (I will be providing in March my template for assessing progress or redirecting life course)
If things are going sideways or not, have compassion towards yourself and remember that it’s a process to build willingness to see things differently.
It makes a whole lot of difference to follow this process. You can help people around you as well but also you can help yourself.
Like every other changing process, I can tell you it requires a bit of practice, but it’s one of the things that once you transform into a habit it will improve your life for the better. It will make you see that there is a solution to everything and that life is not as bad as it seems. Please take into consideration I am not minimising the periods of actual distress and loss or saying that you should run from negative emotions. I am just sharing a tool that help me get out of a negative spiral when life wasn’t that bad.
🤸🏼♂️Exciting news
In March, I’m relaunching the YouTube Channel. Feel free to subscribe here. We’re actively working on preparing videos for it. I am beyond excited. If you have been following me for a long while you know that I experiences some issues in the past with consistency but thankfully, I learnt a lot about building systems that work in the past year so this time is going to be on schedule. So excited to embark on this journey and provide more content on self-development, productivity and startup life.
